What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shames Mountain is cherished for its incredible powder and friendly, community-driven atmosphere, offering a more authentic mountain experience. However, visitors note limited operating hours, basic facilities, and challenging road access after snow, which can detract from the visit.
"We visited here on a weekday in our RV. It had snowed heavily early in the morning, and there was almost half a meter of unplowed snow on the road and in the parking lots. We struggled up to the highest lot, where we immediately got stuck. With the help of some friendly locals, and lots of pushing, we got our RV backed into a spot. The lower lot, for RV parking, looked like a warzone. When we asked the management if we could spent the night there, and move to the lower lot after it was plowed, they told us we couldn't. Our only option was to drive back to Terrace. Hugely disappointing experience, and was really surprised that at a community owned coop, there wasn't a human who could provide a human solution to other humans in distress. There is nothing you could do to get me to return here. Shame on you."

"Beautiful drive to the top. They could use some tourism venues for guests wanting a view and day trip but no skiing. Tubing would be cool, or a proper restaurant cafe. It's basically a cafeteria, wet lodge. They do have a pub, which is nice, just a little one that serves no food."
