Reviews Summary

Colmar's Petite Venise is overwhelmingly praised as a magical, fairytale-like destination with stunning canals and colorful architecture. Visitors adore the romantic atmosphere, the charming boat tours, and the delightful local cuisine. While it can get crowded, especially during peak seasons and Christmas markets, the unique beauty and peaceful ambiance make it a highly recommended visit for a picturesque getaway. Reddit

"Colmar is a magical fairy-tale town that you will be thrilled by. Parking is well organized, there are several marked parking lots and you can drive very close to the canal and park in the square, it was very busy, but we found a place. About 100 meters away is the canal restaurant, where you board the boat, tickets are sold in the restaurant. We waited about 20 minutes for our boat and so we had prosecco. I definitely recommend the cruise, it is a beautiful experience. You sail past historic houses lined with restaurants to the old market, which is definitely worth a visit, you can taste local specialties there. Behind the market, the boat turns and you sail back and further towards the historic bridge to the beautiful romantic corners of Colmar, like in Monet's paintings."

"Colmar is a truly beautiful town — I absolutely loved it.
It’s a perfect place for walking, relaxing, and simply soaking in the atmosphere.

You can enjoy some great local cafes and restaurants, or just sit by the canal and take in the refreshing vibe of the town.

Between the charming old buildings and peaceful natural surroundings, it offers a lovely and balanced experience. I think 3 days is enough to explore Colmar, but honestly, I wouldn’t mind staying for 7–10 days — especially if you plan to visit nearby villages or cities in France or even Germany, since it’s so close to the border.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway."

"Colmar – a fairytale town full of magic!
Visiting Colmar feels like stepping into a storybook. Often called “Little Venice”, the canals, colorful half-timbered houses, and cobblestone streets create an unforgettable atmosphere. The town is full of charm at every corner – from small shops and cozy cafés to stunning views along the water.

The atmosphere is simply wonderful, both lively and peaceful at the same time. Walking through Colmar feels special and magical, and it’s definitely one of the most beautiful places to experience in France. A must-visit!"
