What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kazarma Fortress for its remarkably preserved Venetian walls and the absolutely stunning panoramic views of Sitia and the sea. The affordable entry fee and the potential for unique evening events like concerts are also highlights. However, some find the interior lacking in historical interpretation and facilities, suggesting a need for more on-site information.
"The fortress is laying bare (there is nothing inside except a few basic panels narrating the history of the place) but the walls are well preserved and the interior is pretty to look at thanks to some trees and flowers. The view from the keep is also quite beautiful."

"This is a very old fortress, it is abandoned, but it is still used for concerts and as a theater. It is mostly used in the summer, since it's in open space. Any tourist should go see it. It can be seen from anywhere in Sitia, so it's easy to find. Most of the time to enter you need to pay, but sometimes that isn't the case. The concerts are always hold at nighttime or in the evening."

"De view is very pretty and worth the climb up the hills. The actual fortress has very little to show. But a very interesting history. We had to google that history, it would be great if there would have been something to read handed out, or attached to different areas in the fortress.
If you are in Sitia, do go have a look. That view make it al worth it!"
