Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Hospital in the Rock Museum for its unique and immersive historical experience, particularly its authentic recreation of a WWII hospital and Cold War bunker. The engaging guided tours and the surprisingly artistic toilet facilities are often highlighted as memorable aspects. Some find the experience a bit eerie, and it's recommended to book tours in advance.

"I personally love this place and the tour. It’s understandable that the hospital is inside the rock with a lot of tunnels so you will be lost if you go without the tour guide. Not all texts and pictures and figures have English texts so it makes total sense to book the tour tickets. You don’t need to book it in advance, they have a lot of tours during the day and ticket machines are available.

Since it’s a tour, all you can do is to listen, look around and absorb all the info as much as you can. It might be overwhelming at some point cause the tour only lasts 1 hour."

"Overall, a bit boring, lack lustre and very overpriced tour.
I've been to much better bunkers and on much more engaging tours.
Also, this is a tour of the 1km of revived caves, you only get to see the original caves from a small window for 30s. Such a pity.

Positives:
Cool place on a hot day.
You get to see an old hospital and nuclear bunker.
You learn a little about Hungary's history.
You see a moving exhibition of Nagasaki pictures.
Got in without a wait.
All staff were very helpful and friendly.

Negatives:
Hugely overpriced for a 1 hour tour.
One you've seen two hospital rooms that's enough, but you are pulled along through many.
Tour guide was a bit boring, there was no personality just a delivery of facts. No questions were asked if the your, e.g. where people are from, and much more information about the exhibits was needed.
The transition from hospital to bunker was odd, you weren't allowed to touch or photograph anything."

"Booked online in the morning and had plenty of spaces. Turned up and was already impressed by the entrance and first room you come across. First we had a video about the history of the hospital within Budapest. The tour guide (Rebek, I believe) was well spoken in English and very informative. You can tell she has a passion with how she speaks about Budapest and its history. The tour wasn't just in 1 room, it was within the cave system that was built and improved over the years. Couldn't take pictures which wasn't a problem because you really had to see it for yourself to get the feeling of how it must have felt to try and survive down there during WWII and the siege of Budapest. A hidden gem that I must recommend you visit whilst in Budapest."
