"This place must have been good many years back, but today it is a place flocked by "Love Birds"..you have couples in various intimate postures all over the place...and it is only general public which may get embarrassed!!
There is nothing Japanese about it except probably the design..
Greenery is in plenty though..and Bamboo Clump/Clusters are all over which gives the place a distinct identity..with thick trees/foliage giving green cover all over...
It is supposed to be a Japanese Rose Garden but of course Roses are not there always!!"

"Nothing "Japanese" or "Garden" about this place.
Parking: 2 wheelers are parked at the front of the gate. 4 wheelers don't have a spot.
The place is full over overgrown, and unkempt plants and trees. Walking on the tracks feels like walking through a thick foliage. Perhaps some would like it.
Picnic area - all benches were occupied by couples.
10/- entry fee"

The Essence of Japanese Garden Design
Unlike Western formal gardens, Japanese gardens aim for a subtle beauty that unfolds as you explore. The 'Japanese Rose Garden' in Nagpur, while perhaps not adhering strictly to all traditional elements, captures the spirit of creating a peaceful retreat. The presence of various rose varieties adds a floral dimension, but the underlying design principles of naturalism and tranquility are key to its appeal.
Many Japanese gardens feature specific elements like moss, carefully raked gravel (in dry gardens), and borrowed scenery. While not all these might be present, the overall goal is to create a space that encourages contemplation and a connection with nature. The garden's design, with its emphasis on greenery and natural flow, invites visitors to slow down and appreciate the subtle details.
Exploring the Rose Varieties
Other Japanese rose varieties mentioned include 'Pink Summer Snow' (also known as 'Harugasumi') and 'L'esprit de Fille' (or 'Angel of the Rose'), which boasts a strong fragrance of old rose, citrus, and lemon. These specific cultivars showcase the diversity and appeal of roses cultivated or inspired by Japanese horticulture.
It's important to remember that roses are seasonal. While the garden is named for them, the most spectacular rose displays will be during their blooming periods in spring and fall. Outside of these times, the garden's enduring appeal lies in its lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere, offering a refreshing escape regardless of the floral season.
Navigating the Terrain and Atmosphere
The atmosphere is generally peaceful and well-maintained, providing a tranquil escape from the city's hustle. However, some reviews note that the garden can become a popular spot for couples, particularly during certain times, which might influence the overall ambiance for some visitors. Despite this, the abundant greenery and the refreshing feel of the walking trails are consistently praised.
Comfortable footwear is highly recommended due to the terrain. The garden's design encourages exploration, and the natural setting makes it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll, photography, or simply unwinding amidst the greenery.
