Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Grutti 'e Acqua Nuragic complex to be a historically significant but unfortunately neglected site. While the ruins and ancient water systems are suggestive and charming, many reviewers note the difficult access, overgrown paths, and lack of maintenance, leading to a mixed experience.

"Sadly it’s fenced off and signs are very old/faded."

"Place is not reachable"

"One of the most important sites on the island of Sant'Antioco is undoubtedly the Nuragic complex of Grutti 'e Acqua.

It includes:

- a complex nuraghe, consisting of a tower surrounded by a walled bastion, probably four-lobed and in turn surrounded by a turreted outer wall;
- traces of huts and several cisterns carved from large natural cavities located below ground level and likely connected to each other by a system of canals;
- a "Nuragic" lake, a basin whose banks are bordered by large boulders;
- a well temple.
The complex owes its name to the presence in the area of numerous structures designed to collect rainwater.

A statuette depicting an archer, holding a bow in his left hand over his shoulder, is believed to have been found at this site. It is now on display in the Ferrucio Barreca Museum in Sant'Antioco.

Getting there: From Sant'Antioco, head south. You can reach the site either by turning left after the La Luna nel Pozzo restaurant or by following the signs for the Su Niu 'e su Crobu giants' tomb, located on the same road as the Grutti 'e Acqua complex."
