What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate Kobotoke Pass for its scenic mountain views and the accessibility of its trails, especially for cycling. The free parking and the beauty of the plum blossoms in spring are significant draws. However, the extremely limited parking is a major drawback, often leading to disappointment for those arriving late, and the closure of the Mount Kagenobu trail from this trailhead is a notable inconvenience.
"The parking is small and it was full early in the morning."
Michal Kubo
"I used it to climb Mt. Kageshin on a weekday in late February.
I arrived around 7:40 in the morning, and there were already 7 cars parked, so I quickly parked.
If you consider the space and park, you could probably park 10 cars.
The road at this location was a dead end, and it felt more like a place with a parking space than a parking lot.
When I came back after 1 o'clock, there were 5 or 6 cars parked on the roadside or in a small empty space, so I thought it would be difficult to find a parking space on weekends."

"This is a free parking lot at the trailhead to Mount Kagenobu and Kobotoke Pass.
It looks like it can accommodate about 15 cars.
There's no problem with the trail to Kobotoke Pass, but
as of 2023.3.02, there was a sign prohibiting access to the mountain trail to Mount Kagenobu.
To get to Mount Kagenobu, it might be better to go back a little in the direction of the Kobotoke bus stop and take the Mount Kagenobu trailhead.
There is no toilet. There is a toilet at the Kobotoke bus stop, but it says not to park your car there, so it might be difficult for people with cars to use.
Postscript: I used this parking lot again on 2025.6.02. The trail to Mount Kagenobu from the parking lot was still closed. It may never be restored.
However, there is a short walk to the Mount Kagenobu trailhead, so it may not be a problem."
