Most gloomy/depressing neighborhoods?

A question you don’t hear very often: What are the most depressing, gloomy, gray, monotonous, dense neighborhoods of Tokyo? I am looking for inspiring areas to shoot a dystopic photographic series. I plan to extend this series covering multiple huge cities in the world. Tokyo…

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Ichikawa City History Museum for its free admission and parking, offering excellent value. The exhibits, particularly those detailing local history, maritime industries, and the Showa era, are found to be interesting and educational. While some note the museum's compact and old-fashioned nature, the curators' pride and the opportunity to explore adjacent historical sites like the Horinouchi Shell Mound are highly appreciated. "Despite being a few times here, I hadn't uploaded the Ichikawa History Museum to Google Maps. It's a wonderful, community-based museum that unravels history from a local perspective.

There's ample, easy-to-park parking, and no admission fee. Combined with the adjacent Archaeological Museum and Horinouchi Shell Mound, you could easily spend half a day here. It's important to mention it twice: everything is free. (lol)

My personal recommendations here are the detailed military force map of the Battle of Konodai and the life-size exhibits of salt and seaweed production. I'm in awe of the curators' pride and joy, even with their limited budget.

Also noteworthy are the stone monuments and stone pagodas in Time's Flow Square. A dozen years ago, I'm sure there were a lot more miscellaneous items, like stone monuments and boundary markers... I hope someone speaks up in the Ichikawa City Council, including the sun-bleached, unreadable signs. (wry smile)"

"I visited the museum just after lunchtime. It's about a 10-minute walk from Kita-Kokubu Station. It's a free museum, but the exhibits were quite extensive. They regularly hold special exhibitions, and this time they were holding a Showa-era retro exhibit. If you like museums, it's definitely worth a visit."

"Admission is free, as is parking. The museum displays the history of the region from the Kofun period to the Showa era.
There are many exhibits related to agriculture, which shows that this area was once an agricultural region."
