Reviews Summary
Visitors find the museum at Hirose Castle Town highly informative, especially the free first floor with its detailed castle model. The small fee for the second floor is considered worthwhile for deeper historical insights. While the bus service can be infrequent, the helpful staff and the opportunity to collect a '100 Famous Castles' stamp enhance the experience.
"July 26, 2025 - I visited the museum for the first time. The first floor is free and photography is allowed. Looking at the model of the restored Gassan-Toda Castle, I was able to get a good idea of what the mountain castle looked like. The second floor is 210 yen and photography is not allowed. Since I was there, I decided to take a look. They were holding a special exhibition entitled "The Financial Situation of Tomita Castle Town, Part 1 of the 2025 Fiscal Year." I was able to learn about the prices at the time."

"From Yasugi Station, it's a 20-minute bus ride for 200 yen. The 100 Castle Seals are located at the entrance of the museum. You can get them stamped without a ticket, but the low price also allows access to the second floor, where you can see the exhibits. The entrance fee covers the maintenance fee and introduces the Amago family and Yamanaka Shikasuke. There's a roadside station nearby that serves food, offers indigo dyeing experiences, and features textile machines. Yamanaka Shikasuke's seven tribulations and eight hardships are a must-see story about this famous castle. The bus stop for both arrival and return trips is located in front of the museum."
