Reviews Summary

While longer and steeper than other routes, many hikers prefer its immersive natural environment. Be prepared for a strenuous climb and the necessity of booking permits well in advance.
"Wonderful hiking experience for Mount Hallasan. We arrived at 6 am for our hike during summer to avoid the heat and to avoid rain that afternoon. It turned out to be a good choice. Weather throughout the whole hike was excellent. We started with from the Gwaneumsa Trail and ended with the Seongpanak Trail. Between the 2 trails, the Gwaneumsa was longer, higher elevation and possibly tougher but it was a much nicer hike than Seongpanak where much of the trail path was uneven rocks which can be challenging and almost monotonous. If I had to do it again, I would just stick to Gwaneumsa Trail."

Everyone needs to apply online for a climbing permit in advance.
For us, we hike up via the Seongpanak Trail and hike down via the Gwaneumsa Trail.
When we arrived at this visitor information, it was already quite late. However, we still managed to print our certificates at the kiosk."
