While generally free to enter, some mention the importance of donations for upkeep. The cathedral is a must-see landmark in Old San Juan.
"With a height of 41 meters, it presides over the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Juan Bautista. Its sober composition is highlighted by its beautiful windows carved in stone, one in the Gothic style and the other Plateresque, closed in 1532. As well as shields, faces, gargoyles and other decorative motifs, there is a clock on two of its faces, which was reportedly renovated in 1715."

"historic mainly 15th century old Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Badajoz on Plaza de Espana looks like fortress. Only one 40m high tower, second wasn't built to make the cathedral symmetric. Visited the square on Saturday, but the entrance to the church was closed."

"Beautiful cathedral!
Well worth the cost of entry. Sadly, we didn't have time to visit the museum, as well.
We especially enjoyed the information presented as we climbed up into the bell tower. And the art and architecture throughout is amazing.
Also, upon entering the cathedral, we were greeted by Carmen, who gave us a summary of the cathedral's history. Later, when we asked, she kindly recommended other places to visit around Extremadura. (This advice took us to Olivenza and the Basilica in Guadalajara. Places we had't even considered in our plans but so happy we took her advice & experienced them.)"
