Lycian Way Tips Welcome!

Hey guys, I'm a brand new backpacker with plans to hike the last quarter (75 miles) of the Lycian Way on the Turkish coast seeking whatever advice I can before I do. I've never done anything quite as long distance as this before but I love hiking and am excited to see the trail…

Question about Lycian Way in Turkey

I have a trip planned out to Turkey this April for just over two weeks in total and I'd like to do a portion of the Lycian Way. I'd like to spend about a week in Istanbul, which gives me around 7-9 days on Lycian Trail. I'm looking at flying into Antalya from Istanbul. I'd…

Hi everyone, I’ll be in Antalya for 5 days in early October and I’d love to hike part of the Lycian Way. I’m considering either Segment 1 (Göynük Canyon area) or Segment 2 (towards Çıralı/Olympos). My plan would be to hike during the day, camp overnight on the trail, and then…

Reviews Summary

The Lycian Way near Kaş is overwhelmingly praised for its stunning coastal scenery, rich history, and the warmth of its people. Hikers enjoy the moderate difficulty, the opportunity to camp in beautiful locations, and the blend of natural beauty with ancient ruins. Some minor concerns include the presence of stray dogs and the increasing commercialization of certain popular spots.

"Fabulous trail with fantastic scenery and pile of antient history in the background. In our case there were 17 fantastic days during which we have crossed plain valleys, mountain passes, sea cliffs, ruins of antient civilization (Lycians) we meet fantastic people, tried delicious, finger licking food, camp in some fantastic remote locations, crossed wild canyon streams and more. Trail is moderately difficult and definitely worth to have a go at it. You will not regret it.
Two cons for me personally are stray dogs (some of them are quite large kangal shepherd dogs - not all of them are happy to see the hikers) and some of the plants which can be annoying and with quite long thorns.
Anyway 10/10."

"Well worth a visit if you're passing. 175tl as of February '25. Came in the off season so it was lovely and quiet around. About 1hr 30mins up and down to the canyon with a few stops to enjoy the views. Easy walking, normal runners would be fine no boots needed. There's these ziplines set up around the place and it does take from the experience. I see this place becoming more commercial and somewhat degraded as a result over time which is a shame. Other things to note: there's toilets, two cafes and plenty of parking. If you're coming from Antalya using Google maps make sure you take the correct turn off or it will reroute you over a gravel road that might not be suitable for some vehicles. Dogs are allowed on a leash."

"It was a very fun and adventurous journey. We finished the first stage and then it was the turn of our Russian and Slovakian friends for the second stage."
