"First of all, a lagoon is a lake connected to the sea or ocean. Because fishing is prohibited in Beymelek Lagoon, the fish diversity is quite high. Even loggerhead sea turtles used to come here. The surrounding area is quite neglected, but there are a few fish restaurants with terraces offering beautiful views. If you're looking for blue crab or other fish, you can choose one of these restaurants. There's no bridge connecting the lagoon to the sea, so you have to drive around the perimeter. This isn't a problem, but the view is beautiful."

"Beymelek Lagoon, a natural formation, is a coastal area where freshwater and seawater meet. Fish farming is also practiced in this visually stunning lagoon. Located in Demre, the lagoon combines freshwater on one side with saltwater from the Mediterranean on the other. To maintain the fish population, authorities recommend against lighting the water at night. If you look from a slightly higher angle, you can see the enormous fish."
