What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Auckland Castle is widely praised for its stunning art collections, particularly the Zurbarán paintings, and the exceptionally well-designed Faith Museum. Visitors also rave about the beautiful grounds and the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Some find the admission price a bit steep initially but agree it offers good value for the experience. A common regret is not allocating enough time to fully explore the extensive site.
"Such an iteresting place. The palace itself is a gem, the faith museum is unbelievably well designed and thought-out, the grounds are lovely (particularly the walled garden) and the staff couldn't be friendlier, more helpful or more knowledgeable.
At first I thought £18 was a bit steep but I was proven wrong, it turned out to be very good value for such a great place.
My only regret is that I didn't allocate more time for the visit (I spent 3 hours there, I could quite easily have spent another 2)"

"Amazing place to visit full of history and interesting pieces. Absolutely loved the gardens and the museum in the palace where each room is about a bishop and a time period. Did not have enough time in a day so will return to visit the faith museum and the galleries."

"There is no parking at the palace. There is no castle. The tower is just a big metal structure. There is only one door in and out of the large walled gardens. When I went to the Faith museum, I was told to go see the gardens first and then come back. This makes no sense. The palace is listed on the English heritage map, but they don’t accept it. They said they would give me a 10% off a yearly discount only. It should be taken off to English heritage map. Not cool."
