"A Fascinating little mine workers cottage made famous as the birthplace of the literary genius D H Lawrence... really enjoyed looking around after a very warm welcome by a very pleasant young man..."
Neil Cochrane Cooper
"An absolute gem in Eastwood, the birthplace of David Herbert Richards Lawrence, 11th Sept 1885. He was a prolific writer (challenging societal norms and conventions), upsetting the status quo 😀. He was also an artist and contributed just so much in his 45 years of life. The Museum provides a little snippet, an insight into Victorian Industrial Britain, which was a 'hard' existence for the vast majority, with extreme poverty in the communities, whilst the mine/industrial owners languished in enormous wealth. Over a century on, not a lot has changed with regard to poverty in Eastwood, unfortunately."
Peter Westland
"A lovely intimate exploration of our local and national heritage. Loved the original gas lighting, and the insight into how families lived at hundred years ago. Not a device insight. Very helpful staff!!"
