"Enjoyed an invigorating walk along the sands on a sunny and breezy day to get a close look at this stunning stainless steel artwork. It's the northernmost sculpture on the Mythic Coast Artwork Trail along the seafront, and one of two that's actually on the beach. Installed in 2013, it sits on a concrete base that is hidden under the sand. The shell is submerged at very high tides, but when the tide goes out, you can climb right inside it and read inscriptions taken from "The Sea Swallow ", the magical children's story that inspired this coastal trail. It's a photographer's dream, especially at sunset or when the waves are lapping around it. There's a modern promenade café with wonderful sea views, and a small pay and display car park, close by."
