What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden for its stunning natural beauty, diverse plant collections, and the unique charm of its roaming peacocks. It's considered a peaceful escape and a great spot for picnics and photography. Some find the admission price a bit high compared to free parks, and occasional overcrowding can detract from the tranquility.
"The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanical Garden is a true oasis in the heart of Arcadia, blending nature, history, and serenity in one expansive landscape. Spread across 127 acres, it offers a peaceful escape from city life and an incredible variety of plants from around the world.
The gardens are thoughtfully designed, featuring collections that transport you from tropical rainforests to desert landscapes within a short walk. The flowering trees, rose gardens, and exotic plants make every visit unique, depending on the season. One of the most delightful surprises is the presence of vibrant peacocks freely roaming the grounds—they’ve become a signature part of the Arboretum’s charm.
Beyond the gardens, the Arboretum holds rich history. The Queen Anne Cottage and Coach Barn, dating back to the late 1800s, add a layer of heritage to the experience, making it as much about culture as it is about nature. Walking paths are well-maintained and suitable for both leisurely strolls and more focused plant exploration.
The atmosphere is calm, spacious, and family-friendly, with plenty of areas to picnic or simply relax by the ponds. Photographers, nature lovers, and those seeking a quiet retreat will all find something special here.
Overall, the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanical Garden is not just a garden—it’s an experience of beauty, discovery, and tranquility. A must-visit for locals and tourists alike."

"This place is really cool. If I lived locally I would be a member for sure. There's always more to see with the seasons.
There are paved areas that are very easy to traverse and most of the unpaved areas are pretty smooth. There are ample places to sit and water fountains."

"It's such a big place to explore and relax with nature. I loved seeing animals like the peacocks, turtles, squirrels, lizards. You need good walking shoes and water to see a good amount of it comfortably. Only complaint is the gift shop closes before the arboretum so I didn't get to look before I left."
