What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
MGM Grand is praised for its vast amenities, lively atmosphere, and excellent pool complex, offering great value for its location and offerings. However, some guests find the rooms dated and the property's immense size to be a drawback due to extensive walking required.
"Stayed at the MGM Grand for a business conference and had a great experience. The meeting spaces were well set up, staff were super helpful, and everything ran smoothly. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet — perfect after long days. Loved the variety of dining options on-site, and the location on the Strip made it easy to enjoy the city in the evenings. Overall, a great balance of work and relaxation. Highly recommend!"

"The room itself wasn't bad, but it definitely could have been cleaner. Lots of trash on the floor so you can tell they did not vacuum and the bathroom sink was dirty. Bring your own toilet paper if you're staying for more than a day because they use the cheapest stuff. It's in a good location, hotel employees are very friendly and there are lots of food options inside. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was very quiet and dark at night. There is a mini refrigerator but you are not allowed to open it, so it's essentially useless. The pool was absolutely terrible. There was trash everywhere, it seems as if the hotel staff cared more about serving the drinks, then cleaning them up. There were cups floating around in the lazy river. The music by the pool was so loud and terrible that we actually left after about thirty minutes. Imagine the crappiest knockoff rave music you could find blaring so loud you couldn't talk to the person next to you. I would definitely stay at a different resort next time but overall, not too bad, considering we used our credit card points to pay for it."

"I had a great time at MGM Grand! The hotel is massive and full of energy, from the casino floor to the restaurants and the pool area. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and check-in was pretty smooth despite the crowd. Loved the nightlife options and the easy access to shows and entertainment. Definitely one of the iconic Vegas spots. Would recommend for anyone looking for that full Vegas experience."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Be prepared for a lot of walking, as the property is vast. Consider bringing snacks and drinks purchased off-site to manage costs, as in-resort prices can add up quickly. While the casino is a significant part of the resort, most other areas are accessible to all ages. However, always check specific venue policies for any age restrictions. The central location on the Strip also makes it easy to access other family-friendly attractions nearby.
💰 Budget Travelers
Look for opportunities to get value, such as inquiring about room upgrades at the desk rather than booking online. While resort fees are mandatory, explore if any loyalty programs offer waivers. By being mindful of these expenses, you can enjoy the amenities and entertainment at MGM Grand without breaking the bank.
couples
Couples can also unwind at the expansive pool complex, perhaps enjoying a cocktail by the lazy river. For a more intimate experience, consider booking a room at The Signature at MGM Grand, which offers a more secluded and luxurious stay separate from the main resort bustle. The central location also makes it easy to explore other romantic spots or shows on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Grand Scale of MGM Grand
When planning your stay, consider the location of your room within the vast property. Some Reddit users advise against staying in the West Wing due to its distance from main attractions. The hotel's amenities are spread out, so factor in travel time when scheduling activities or dining reservations. Comfortable footwear is a must, as you'll likely be doing a lot of walking throughout your stay.
Despite its size, MGM Grand offers a comprehensive resort experience with numerous dining, entertainment, and recreational options. The key to enjoying it is to embrace its scale and plan accordingly, allowing ample time to explore and move between different areas.
Maximizing Your Pool Experience
While the lazy river is a fun feature, some guests note that it's relatively short. Keep in mind that food and beverages purchased at the pool bars are also pricey. To save money, consider stocking up on snacks and drinks from off-site retailers like Walgreens or ABC stores and using an insulated bag with ice to keep them cool, as rooms typically lack mini-fridges. Remember to wear cover-ups when walking to and from the pool area.
During busy periods like holiday weekends, the pool area can become extremely crowded. Arriving right when the pools open is your best bet for a more relaxed experience. Even with the crowds, the expansive pool complex offers a great way to cool off and enjoy the Las Vegas sunshine.
Room Tips and Room Types
MGM Grand offers various room configurations. Standard 'Grand' rooms typically feature a tub/shower combination. For those who prefer separate facilities, the Executive rooms offer a soaker tub and a separate shower stall. Studio rooms, often located in the West Tower, are smaller and usually only have a shower stall. Some guests have reported issues with water pressure in the showers, which may be a recurring problem in certain room types.
It's also worth noting that rooms do not come with a mini-fridge. If you plan on keeping drinks or snacks cool, you'll need to bring your own insulated bag and utilize ice machines. While the rooms themselves might be considered basic or slightly dated by some, the overall value proposition of MGM Grand, especially when booked at a good rate, makes it a popular choice for many Las Vegas visitors.
