Visitors praise Salinas River State Beach for its easily accessible, beautiful natural scenery, cool ocean breeze, and romantic sunset views. It's a great spot for fishing, picnicking, and observing wildlife like dolphins. However, it's strongly advised against for swimming due to rough, cold waters, and the sandy paths can be challenging, especially in wet conditions.
"Always easily accessible, songs of the clashing waves and swooshing surf welcome your first step. The cool see breeze fills the olfactory senses. Fish, picnic, walk the beach or simply lay on the sand to soak in the sun's rays; you're in a paradise overlooked by a highway less than a mile away. Can't recommend enough this place adjacent to Moss Landing, and down the road from Castroville. Romantic views of sunsets are a nightly occurrence. Love it!"

"This definitely is NOT a swimming beach, but the wildlife and view of a more tumultuous coast is pretty darn cool.
The sandy path to the beach is a jaunt, especially for kids, and the fact that some people bring horses and other animals and don't clean up after them ON the path isn't great. But it's worth a visit to sit and see the ocean."
