"The Sacramento area has many interesting historical places to visit. I've started to visit all the places I have on my list. After the old Sacramento district and the State Capitol, this is the third place on my list.
I personally love old historical cemeteries. Whether they are pioneer or military cemeteries. To walk around and find and read the headstones of people and to ask what is your story?
From Arlington to Gettysburg and the punch bowl and many others if you are interested in monuments like this, then you must visit. It is a beautiful well kept cemetery. Many pioneers,, politicians and prominent families from the history of California."

"A beautiful and peaceful place. About half is military dead, from various wars. The other half is historic.
Grave plots are in various states of disrepair, some nicely kept up and others where the head stones are very worn and the heavy concrete above the bodies is sagging.
There are flowering plants all over the place with bees and butterflies doing their thing."

"This is hands down a gorgeous and well-maintained cemetery. You really feel that this is a historic place when you’re here.
The architecture of the statues and gravesites, the gorgeous landscaping, the nicely carved out paths, to the historic/important people buried here take you to a place where you feel strangely comforting. Our literary tour started from here, and we saw the graves of Joan Didion’s family. We even read from one of Joan’s books as if we were paying homage to everyone buried here, for the lives they’ve led, with their joys and sorrows.
It’s a great place, to come and reflect, and spend a day either by yourself or with a group. A cemetery doesn’t sound too touristy, but I highly recommend this place.
I believe they’ve roses inside the cemetery, which are among the best in California. They’ve a few parking spots inside as well."
