Huge thanks to the 350+ volunteers and numerous community partners who came out to help restore the Guadalupe River Trail on Saturday! Guadalupe Gardens should feel like San José’s own Central Park — but for too long, many didn’t feel safe here. That’s starting to change. Thanks to months of work by City staff nearly 200 people have been brought indoors, trail usage is up over 100% in some areas,...

Reviews Summary

Guadalupe River Park and Gardens offers a mixed bag of experiences. Visitors appreciate the community gardens, the potential for peaceful walks, and the presence of wildlife. However, many reviews highlight significant concerns about trash, homeless encampments, and safety issues on the trails, which detract from the overall enjoyment for some. Reddit

"Decided to walk on this trail, despite the mixed reviews of encampments and trash. While on the trail, around the northern section near Hedding St, an off-leash dog ran out from around a corner and attacked me! It bit my leg, unprovoked and broke the skin. The man who it belonged to (presumably homeless) came after the dog had already bit me twice and got the dog under control. I would consider this trail to be dangerous if you are running/walking, and would not recommend for anyone, unfortunately. Incredibly disappointing that there are no solutions for the hundreds (if not thousands) of people that live along this creek, as it poses a safety risk for community members."

Pierce Mcinturff

"I could rest on a bench in the warm sun.
I love this place because I can watch the planes take off and land."

Hiroyuki Ochiai

"Very nice park and great little walk but as others have mentioned there is a bunch of trash and people (assumed to be homeless) lurking about.

There are a few birds in the many beautiful trees and TONS of ground squirrels. I ran into a couple of Canadian geese and a type of duck I have never seen before with a long narrow beak."
