Sebastian Berhalter carries the obvious biographical footnote of being the son of former USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter, but his inclusion in national team conversations rests on consistent performances for Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS. A technically tidy central midfielder, he progressed through Columbus Crew and Austin before settling in Vancouver, where he has become a reliable contributor in a competitive Western Conference side. He lacks the European pedigree of the USMNT's senior midfielders, and breaking into a pool that includes Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie remains a significant challenge. His ceiling at international level is still being established.
