Thalente Mbatha

Thalente Mbatha is a combative central midfielder who has established himself as one of Orlando Pirates' key engine-room figures since joining from Supersport United in 2023. Comfortable breaking up play and driving forward in transition, he developed his craft in the PSL with Supersport before earning his move to one of South Africa's biggest clubs. At Bafana Bafana he competes for a starting berth in a competitive midfield, offering physicality and pressing intensity. Still only 26, he represents the generation of locally-based players Hugo Broos and his successor have leaned on to give South Africa a hard-working, cohesive identity.
