What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mallalli Falls is lauded for its stunning beauty, especially during the monsoon when the water flow is at its peak. Visitors appreciate the scenic drive and the rewarding trek down the steps, though the climb back up can be challenging. While some find the view from the base excellent, others suggest higher vantage points offer a better perspective due to fencing.
"The falls is really beautiful, especially during the monsoons.
To see the falls from really close you've to get down abt 615 steps...
My advice is not to go near the falls as the view from up close is not that great with all the fencing that's been put to safeguard the tourists.
You can get an awesome view from slightly higher up rather than from the base."

"Mallali Falls, near Somwarpet in Coorg, Karnataka, is a majestic 200-foot waterfall formed by the River Kumaradhara, surrounded by dense forests and coffee estates of the Western Ghats. The drive itself is scenic, but the highlight is the trek of around 500–600 steps down to the viewpoint. The descent offers incredible views of the valley, while the climb back up can be quite tiring but rewarding.
The best time to visit is from July to October, when the waterfall is at its most powerful and the landscape is lush. Exploring the site typically takes 2–3 hours, including the trek, time at the base, and the return climb. Facilities are minimal, with parking and small stalls selling tea, water, and snacks, while accommodation and restaurants are available in Somwarpet or Madikeri. Carry sturdy shoes, drinking water, and a raincoat. Cameras are safe if kept in a waterproof pouch, as the mist near the base is strong. Avoid plastics, slippery footwear, and heavy baggage to enjoy the raw beauty of Mallali Falls."

"Absolutely stunning waterfall during the monsoon.
You can take a view from the top. However if you wamt to have an amazing close look and feel the fresh mist and water sprinkled on your face, you need to go down the 500+ stairs but the view will be worth it."
