"A majestic and historic site!
Raaya Gopura is one of the must-visit spots in Melukote, known for its unfinished yet grand stone pillars and ancient architecture. The structure stands tall and gives you a glimpse into the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the past. It’s a great spot for photography, especially during sunrise or sunset when the light hits the stone beautifully.

We visited this place as part of the KSRTC one-day Melukote package trip. After reaching Melukote, we explored around 7–8 places using a shared auto, which cost just ₹80 per head. It was a very convenient and economical way to see all the key attractions in the area.

The atmosphere at Raaya Gopura is calm and scenic — perfect for taking a break and soaking in the history and landscape.

Highly recommended if you're visiting Melukote!"

ReviewerFromChennai

"Melkote is a beautiful place with amazing old sculptures and temples. The carvings are really wonderful to see. But the maintenance is poor — the place is not clean, and many visitors don’t have civic sense. People are even engraving their names on the ancient stones, which is very sad. The government should take action to protect and maintain this heritage site properly."
