What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Educulture Junkanoo Museum for its vibrant displays of Junkanoo costumes and floats, and the passionate, engaging staff who share the cultural significance of the festival. The interactive drumming station and video presentations are highlights, offering an immersive experience. However, some find the admission fee a bit high for the museum's relatively small size.
"The Junkanoo Museum in Nassau is a small but vibrant showcase of the annual parade and the incredible costumes and floats crafted by locals. The highlight is the room featuring the previous year’s festival winner—absolutely worth a look. Another room plays a live sequence of the event, which really makes you want to experience it in person. The hands-on drum station adds to the lively atmosphere and gets you into the spirit of the music.
The museum is only about four rooms, so it’s a quick visit. While the experience is enjoyable, the admission fee ($18 for adults, $11 for children) feels a bit steep for the size. Lower prices could make it more accessible to visitors. Overall, a great glimpse into the pride and culture of Junkanoo!"

"My family visited the Educulture Junkanoo Museum as part of a cruise ship tour. This visit was absolutely the highlight of the tour! The owners, Arlene and her husband, had so much joy and passion to share that we were all swept up in the experience! The story of the Junkanoo traditions, costumes, and music were presented with such care for detail and love! For those that have the pleasure of living in Nassau please venture over and check it out; Arlene even runs a camp for children in the upstairs area of what was once her childhood home! I’m a retired teacher and this visit left me wanting to share the Junkanoo story with friends and family; maybe even visiting Nassau on December 25th sometime in the future! Thank you Arlene for your kindness and your passion! Lisa…"

"An intimate museum that tells the story of Junkanoo - the National Cultural Festival of the Bahamas. The museum is full of brightly colored costumes, historical pictures and videos of the celebration. There is also a Junkanoo Shack - where the costumes are imagined and built. Helpfully Hint: The museum is an easy walk from the port area. After the tour, you may be able to wear one of the headdresses for a picture."
