Boualem Khoukhi

Boualem Khoukhi is one of Qatar's most experienced and decorated defenders, a central pillar of the side that won the 2019 AFC Asian Cup — the country's first major international trophy. Algerian-born but a naturalised Qatari international, he has spent the bulk of his career at Al Sadd, where his reading of the game and organisational qualities have made him a consistent performer. Now 35, he is in the final chapter of his international career, but his experience and leadership remain valuable assets for Julen Lopetegui's squad.
