Egil Selvik has built his career in Norwegian domestic football, spending the bulk of his time at Haugesund, where he has been a dependable presence in the Eliteserien. The move to Watford represents his first sustained experience outside Norway and a significant step up in profile. At 28 he is in the prime years for a goalkeeper, and his inclusion in the Norway squad reflects both the depth Stale Solbakken is building and the limited pool of experienced Norwegian keepers at top-level clubs.
