Ellyes Skhiri is the engine of Tunisia's midfield, a box-to-box operator whose reading of the game and ability to break up play made him one of the Bundesliga's more underrated midfielders during his time at Köln. His move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 confirmed his standing in German football. Skhiri combines defensive intelligence with the capacity to drive forward and connect play, making him genuinely two-sided in central midfield. For Tunisia he is the first name on the teamsheet, the player who sets the tempo and protects the defence. Without him, the Eagles' midfield loses its structural backbone.
