Zion Suzuki is Japan's first-choice goalkeeper and one of the most promising young stoppers in Asian football. Born in Japan to a Japanese-American family, he broke through at Urawa Reds before moving to St. Truiden in Belgium and then earning a transfer to Parma in Serie A in 2024 — a significant step up that reflects his rapid development. At 23, his shot-stopping reflexes and composure under pressure have made him the clear successor to Shuichi Gonda in Moriyasu's setup.
