About Senegal

Senegal announced themselves on the world stage at the 2002 World Cup, eliminating holders France in the group stage and reaching the quarter-finals — El Hadji Diouf and Papa Bouba Diop becoming national icons. They returned in 2018, narrowly exiting the group stage on fair-play rules, the cruelest of eliminations. Strengths

Mané's experience and relentless work rate give Senegal a focal point few African sides can match. Koulibaly's aerial dominance and leadership at centre-back make them extremely difficult to break down from set pieces. The midfield trio of Gueye, Camara, and Pape Matar Sarr offers genuine Premier League and Champions League quality.

Weaknesses

Mané is now playing in Saudi Arabia, where the tempo is lower, and his sharpness at the highest level is a legitimate question mark. Depth behind Koulibaly is uncertain — Moussa Niakhaté and Abdoulaye Seck are capable but untested at this level.
